Through Rushing Water by Catherine Richmond was a perfect telling of the struggles women faced in the 1800's; love, marriage, and their place in the world. Sophia is the kind of woman we all want to be but know it will take us a lot of work to get their in our lives. She faced her problems with grace and dignity as well as a godly understanding. Sophia may not have thought at the moment that any of the bad was good for her but it brought he closer to god and to her true self.
