Corruption and crime go hand in hand and what makes it interesting is the human aspect of it all. The people involved and how the react to the breakdown of what they are trying to commit and create in life. Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder and the Battle for Modern New Orleans by Gary Krist is memorable and mesmerizing. I thoroughly enjoy this time in most of the large, urban cities of our country because they were embarking on such risky tasks against the government. Krist has written in a way that makes it more enjoyable to discover how this city, or any city, has been affected by organized crime. The way it begins to the way it crumbles and all the players that were/are involved in changing the way crime came to be in this country. I cannot wait for the next city to be showcased from Krist and I hope it will be sonner than later. I received this book from Bloggingforbooks for this review and all opinions are my own.
